Painting ( acrylic) in progress

This painting was started , this summer, before my mother-in-law died. The first stage takes a long time. I have to recreate the pattern of the tablecloth on the canvas. My eyes get sore. As I age, they become sore sooner, necessitating frequent breaks. Regarding the size : this is a larger canvas than I had been working on , as my arthritis is doing well. Anyhow, my mother-in-law died and my father-in-law stayed with us for a while. During that time, I was unable to work in my studio, or, for that matter, anywhere in the house. ( I do not work well with someone sitting next to me watching whatever I do....) Because of that, this "sat" and "sat". ( Well, stood on the easel untouched. I got back to it about 5 weeks ago. If I had been a bit more energetic, I could have gotten back to it a bit sooner. I paint slowly. I add colors one at a time. I also layer colors . They are layered so that he previous layer is left showing in spots. That and the fact that I allow some of the underpainting and toning to either show through in small bits or put a few of the early layers on somewhat transparently allows for a bit of visual dynamic. There will both be some warmth ( in this case) , as well as a bit of shimmering or tension ( depending on the color it is next to for the dynamic.) At any rate, it is slow going, but this is what is taking shape.
